In his recent work Phill Hopkins deals with issues of being pursued, isolation, loneliness and being on the edge of things. He has used objects from the domestic many times before and he still continues to juxtapose these within an imaginative context.
Phill Hopkins is an artist living and working in Leeds. He was born in Bristol in 1961 and trained at Goldsmiths’ College, University of London from 1982-85. He has exhibited his sculptures & drawings widely throughout the UK and Europe.
He has work in major collections including: The Imperial War Museum, London; The Henry Moore Institute; Leeds City Art Gallery; Doncaster City Council; Stadt Dortmund, Germany. Also has works in various private collections in the UK, Europe and the USA.
Since 1986 he has worked as an ‘artist in education’ on numerous projects and has taught in higher, further and adult education settings. He currently runs Henshaws Arts Centre In Knaresborough, Yorkshire.
